Fall Update...Its Getting Hot.....

A few weeks ago I was in Las Vegas for MAGIC and the ENK trade shows.   The men's categories are blowing up.   5 years ago you did not see the massive amounts of men's products and accessories.  It is the fastest growing trend in the marketplace.   I have been hired by Mela Originals to design their new womens collection "Mela" and they also hired me  www.melaoriginal.com to design a men's line which we named "Carlo".   I get to design the logo and the name, "Carlo"  - so far its like Tom Ford meets vintage California lifestyle.   Black Saffiano leather with cobalt nappa blue trim.   The bags look amazing and I enjoy designing men's leather goods more than women.   There is a lot more freedom and no one ever says no to my designs.  

It is already past labor day and there has been a major heat wave her in Southern California and the sign on the I-5 freeway says, "Severe Drought-Help Save Water!"

Fashion Accessories Lead Time

As a freelance fashion designer and consultant I spent a lot of time educating my clients about the process.   There have been many times where after I design a handbag or accessories collection for a client the expect to have the samples in a few weeks.   I put this timeline together to educate people that are new to the fashion industry about the lead time. Designing and launching a fashion collection of handbags or other accessories is extremely time consuming and complicated.  There are many steps to the process and it takes months (not weeks) to launch a line. My goal as a fashion consultant is not only to make beautiful products that sell but also to manage the complicated process for my clients.  I enjoy the process and have been managing this product development and production process for 15 years.   It is amazing to see your sketch turn into a final wearable product! We Don't Exist to Please People

  Don't allow anyone to take away your happiness or your life because they are not comfortable with the choices you have made in FOR YOUR OWN LIFE.  The  title is a bit misleading. I don't exist to please people. It took me a long time to figure that out. One of the main things I noticed after I was about 30 years of age and got married was that I had a lot of people noticing how I lived my life, my career, my house, and basically everything in general. Before I got married I was a bit of a nomad and traveled all over the world. At that time, if people were judging me, I was too busy flying to Thailand or Amsterdam to notice, and my house was a rented room on the beach in Los Angeles.  After I got married, the criticism started rolling in like Thunder. First, it was, my apartment or house was not big enough. (sorry rent is sky-high in Los Angeles), then when we bought our first house, it was still not big enough.
