Tomorrow going to look at the leather in Italy at the Linea Pelle show. It will be interesting to see what the new colors are. I need to restock my swatches, it has been 18 months and all my swatches are old. I hope its a nice trip.
I met this really great family owned business in Milan that manufactures and has traditional and unique hardware for handbags and leather goods. In fact, I liked them so much that I decided to help them to bring their business to the USA market. They have great quality hardware and I like the fact that they are a family run business and they can do smaller MOQ for custom hardware!

Jan Klier, a talented photographer friend of mine who is based of NYC, did a small photo shoot for me. It is interesting to see how the background and lighting of a shoot can make it appear sexy or dramatic. He took a few simple wallets and iphone cases and some lighting skills and made the items appear very luxurious and fabulous. Its amazing what a little fur and black background can do!
As a female entrepreneur, I have had really good luck until recently. In the past decade, I have founded a startup fashion handbag brand in Seattle. After one year I was able to secure a loan through the Startup community, and about a year later I went to a VC forum in Seattle and I met an investor. He invested in my handbag brand, Rocco e Dante after one meeting and helped me build my company for several years until the economy tanked and we shut it down. I have had an overall positive experience as a female entrepreneur in the fashion industry. My investor was always professional and was a great mentor. I ended up getting to know his family.
